Thanksgiving Cruise, Nov. 23- 30, 2013
We were at the airport at 7:19 am. We both were expedited by TSA. It was
great. All Bob had to do was take the laptop out of its bag.
After a long travel day,we boarded the Crown Princess.
Here we are borarding the ship.
After our fast on
the planes we relaxed, had dinner and collapsed. Here is a view
of the harbor. We had calm seas and
restful night.
Our first stop was Princess Cay .
It seems to have been improved since the
last time we were there. When we are back in March, we might rent a
cabana.
We went to bed early and got up late. We have our first day at sea and
just relaxed. It was rainy and windy on deck.
We got to St Marteen in the morning. Along with the Crown there were six
cruise ships in port. After lunch we joined three other couples to
take a Segway tour of the town and beach. We put on knee pads, elbow
pads, and helmets and were trained on controlling and using the
Segway. Here we are. We all had a great time until almost the very end. A bike
rider decided to play chicken with the Segways and when Carole tried
to avoid him, she went down. The safety equipment prevented serious
injury. We were late leaving port because a passenger had to be
evacuated by ambulance to a local hospital.
Wednesday morning we were one of four ships at St. Thomas. First in line was
the Royal Princess. That is one large ship! We did a little shopping
but didn't take any tours because we've been here several times.
Our cabin was infested by a couple of
mice .
We would move them but they always reappeared elsewhere
.
Our next stop was Grand Turk . We didn't take the tour to the lighthouse
again but strolled around the shops at the end of the Pier.
Our flight home was in the afternoon so we took a tour of Fort Lauderdale from
the ship before we went to the airport. As you can see there are a
lot of expensive homes and yachts
along the canals.
Our final view of Fort Lauderdale.
